Saban's Christmas Gift to the Jets

We may be beating a dead horse when it comes to kicking field goals on 4th and short deep in opposing territory.  These
decisions continue to be the most egregious errors repeatedly committed by NFL coaches.  On Christmas day, Nick Saban had a
golden opportunity to make the "courageous" 4th down choice.  Instead he chose to gift wrap a field goal and squander over 4%
GWC to the Jets.  Here' the situation:

The Dolphins are trailing 10-7 with 2:13 remaining in the game.  With a 4th and 1 on the Jet's 7 yard line, Saban decides to tie the
game with a field goal.  It must have given him great comfort to see the scoreboard read 10-10........for all of 2 minutes!  The Jets
promptly marched to the Miami 12 yard line and put the game away on a Mike Nugent field goal with 14 seconds remaining.

There were many different possible outcomes when Saban decided to go for 3.  Surely, his plan was to make the field goal, stop
the Jets in regulation and win the game in overtime.  That parlay consists of 3 components of which none individually is assured.
When ZEUS performs an extended simulation it is able to properly weigh each of the possible outcomes for the field goal choice vs
running the ball on 4th and 1.  In this case, the answer is clear.  Saban presented the Jets a very nice Christmas Gift.
